Stainless steel 416 is a martensitic grade that offers strong mechanical properties combined with moderate corrosion resistance. The alloy’s composition includes roughly 12-14% chromium, 0.15% carbon and 0.75-1.50% manganese, plus small amounts of sulfur and phosphorus. This material is recognized for its high durability, which makes it well-suited for complex applications. Its mechanical properties feature a tensile strength of 860 MPa, yield strength of 450 MPa, and hardness ranging from 170 to 220 HB. The corrosion, oxidation and environmental resistance of Stainless Steel 416 are excellent but prone to degradation.
